In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries the attribution of beauty to God was a rarity in both academic and popular theological literature. On this podcast, we explore why this is so and especially look at the way in which the beauty of God was a staple of theological reflection from the Scriptures down to the early modern era. The change in thinking took place in the eighteenth century and it is appropriate to reflect on one thinker from that era, namely, Jonathan Edwards, who is a fabulous representative of the older, classical thinking in this regard, namely, that ultimate and primal beauty is found in the Triune God.
