In the preface to a new publication of the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith written in 1855 by C.H. Spurgeon, he said that the truth requires a “banner.” For Spurgeon, there was no better banner for the truth of the Bible's leading doctrines than the 1689 Baptist Confession.
